The JEONJU International Film Festival (JEONJU IFF) has started accepting entries for the 22nd edition until Monday, January 18th, 2021.

Although this year was a hard time for the film industry due to COVID-19, JEONJU IFF has showcased 180 films in online screenings which was the first attempt in the Korean film industry, evaluation screenings with juries and filmmakers, and extended screenings in Jeonju and Seoul. JEONJU IFF received attention from home and abroad media since it has introduced promising films to Korean audiences online and offline, Jeonju and Seoul in the midst of COVID-19.

The 22nd JEONJU IFF will recruit films of various genres, including fictional films, documentary films, experimental films, and animated films. Participants will overcome space restrictions and have a chance to be screened. A first or second feature from a director(s) that was produced post-January of 2020 is eligible, while the film should have a minimum pre-condition of Asian Premiere, which means it should not have been presented in any Asian countries and won’t be before the 22nd JEONJU IFF. All genres are allowed to enter including fiction, documentary, experimental, and animation, while the running time should be at least 40 minutes.

All submissions will be reviewed by a selection committee before determining the film’s participation at the festival. Selected films will be screened during the duration of the 22nd JEONJU IFF. The winner of the International Competition section will be announced at the awards ceremony, and they will be awarded the prize money, a trophy, and other benefits.

Winners from previous years include GAO Ming´s Damp Season (Grand Prize), Clarisa NAVAS’ One in a Thousand (Best Picture Prize), Luis Lopez CARRASCO’s The Year of the Discovery (Special Jury Prize), Adam by Maryam TOUZANI (Special Mention) among many others.

Submissions can be made only online at entry.jeonjufest.kr/en. For more information, contact the Program Team at +82-2-2285-0562 or films@jeonjufest.kr.
