? JEONJU IFF will break through COVID-19 with the expanded sponsorship of next-generation brands!

The 22nd JEONJU International Film Festival (JEONJU IFF, Festival Director LEE Joondong) which will start on April 29 with the slogan “Film Goes On” has confirmed sponsorship from various domestic and international companies, supporting the will of the film festival to break through COVID-19.

First to attract much attention are the key players in the domestic film industry who will participate as sponsors of the 22nd JEONJU IFF despite being severely hit by the pandemic. CGV, which has been continuously paying attention to Korean independent films through the festival will not only provide CGV Jeonjugosa as a screening venue but will also select and award prize money to two films in the Korean Competition section with the CGV Arthouse Awards. The domestic OTT WATCHA has newly created two awards at the JEONJU IFF called Watcha´s Pick: Feature and Watcha´s Pick: Short. They will award the prize money to one feature in Korean Competition and five films in Korean Competition for Shorts to show their support to rising filmmakers. Following last year, domestic OTT platform waave will continue its partnership with JEONJU IFF. They will allow the audience to stay safe by providing 142 films on their streaming platform for online screenings. Avin & Company, a media IT convergence start-up based in Jeonju, will also provide prize money or in-kind to Korean documentary projects participating in K-DOC CLASS and JEONJU lab at the 13th JEONJU Project.

NH Bank and the official dealer of Mercedes-Benz, Jin Motors, have participated at JEONJU IFF’s awards for a long time and have supported many creators. They will support the festival again this year. For the first time, Jin Motors and JEONJU IFF will work together to prepare “EQ Mobile Cube,” an electric car booth stationed at the parking lot of JEONJU Cine Complex to be used as an interview location for actors and directors participating in the 22nd JEONJU IFF.

This year, rising brands that target young audiences will also participate as sponsors. Artist Nanan will make flowers made out of paper called “Long Long Time Flower” for the awardees so they can remember the joys of winning for a long time. Also, COVID-19 prevention sponsors who will keep the festival safe are notable. The labor and management of Hyundai’s Jeonju factory will be providing 4 shuttle buses to safely transport the audience and the guests, while The Good Co., Ltd will provide masks, and OHSCENT will provide hand sanitizers and hand washes.

Quebec Government office in Seoul, Korea, Italian Cultural Institute in Seoul, and French Embassy in Korea will also partner with JEONJU IFF. Quebec Government office in Seoul, Korea will support the organization of the Master Class with Quebec’s representative director, Denis Cote. Italian Cultural Institute in Seoul will provide the subtitles of the seven films by Cecilia Mangini, who is one of the filmmakers being spotlighted in “Special Focus: I am Independent”. French Embassy in Korea will be providing support for the French films being screened at the JEONJU IFF and will also organize a Korean-French coproduction conference.

In addition, 66 Girls, Hyundai Pharm, Sempio, Murgerbon, Boksoondoga, Thinking Cookie, HangSo, Kyobo Life Insurance, HITEJINRO, DHL, JD Ideas, and more will participate as sponsors to enrich the film festival.

The 22nd JEONJU IFF held from April 29 to May 8 will hold its physical offline screenings in the Jeonju Film Street area, while the online screenings will be made available on the OTT platform, wavve (www.wavve.com, only in Korea). All talks and special conversations will be available on JEONJU IFF’s official YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/JEONJUIFF).
