Robert Bresson (1901~1999) was a French film director known for his spiritual and ascetic style. He contributed notably to the art of film and influenced the French New Wave. He is often referred to as the most highly regarded French filmmakers. His films including [#i_]Diary of a Country Priest[_i#](1951),[#i_] A Man Escaped[_i#](1956), [#i_]The Trial of Joan of Arc[_i#](1962) had received numerous awards from the Cannes, Venice, and Berlin and to name a few.
