A Korean-Chinese woman hits the road to find her long-lost lover, who is also an ethnic Korean. This film is both a road movie and a heartbreaking love story, capturing a certain landscape of South Korean society in the course of her journey. The overnight journey of this woman to find love is typical, to some extent. To go finding her love, the woman has to leave the restaurant she works for and go through a karaoke and inn. The landscape of Seoul’s night streets during her journey with a chauffeur driver (more accurately the world of occupation of chauffeur drivers) is as tiresome and lonesome as her own life. In a sense, this film is the love story of this Korean-Chinese woman portrayed through the lens of social realism. And one of the most conspicuous aspects is that most South Koreans who appear in this film are very good-hearted. Nonetheless, this foreign woman’s desperate wish is not fulfilled, because the problem lies not in people, but in the system.
