A barbershop in the outskirts of town. A barber called Sergeant Kim who takes his involvement in the Vietnam War as a strong point of pride listens to the song ´Sergeant Kim who Returns from Vietnam´ over and over again. He tells a story of the gold-plated scissors that hang on the wall of his barbershop to a friend and a delivery girl from the coffee shop. It is a bizarre story about the experience that his father supposedly underwent in the interrogation room after he was arrested at a demonstration during the 4. 19 revolution. The director shows how a simple instrument like scissors can be used to easily fabricate countless stories about torture. By showing how these wild stories circulate as true stories through society, he draws an allegory of the dark side of modern Korean history, which made these stories possible.
