Plants combines fantasy with melodrama and the sentimentality of teenagers as it presents an impressive exploration of characters. Florencia, the protagonist, nurses her brother Sebastian who’s in a coma. No one helps her in her struggle to get by and she becomes obsessed with a comic book about plants that attack when there’s a full moon. She also gets to know a man online and begins exploring sexuality of herself. Plants portrays reality seen through the eyes of a teenage girl. The comic book Florencia is obsessed with draws a parallel to her brother’s state. Roberto Doveris illustrates her determination in confronting the ambiguity of perception, sexual awareness, and harsh reality with a distinctive touch.
