Joao Moreira SALLES 
Born in 1962 in Rio de Janeiro. He began his career in 1985 when he and his brother Walter Salles founded VideoFilmes, which went on to produce modern Brazilian classics like [#i_]Central Station[_i#](1998) and [#i_]City of God([_i#]2002). he has directed many award-winning documentaries including [#i_]Blues[_i#](1990), which won the Special Jury Prize at the Festival International du Film D’Art, and [#i_]Santiago[_i#](2007) which won Best Film at the Cinema du Reel.
