Roy Andersson: Exhibition of Human Being
Songs From the Second Floor
Director_ Roy ANDERSSON
Sweden 2000 98min DCP color feature Fiction
Review

A series of bizarre scenes unfolds; a man is grabbing onto his boss’ pants but gets fired, and even people on the street stab him and knock him down. A magician puts him into a box and inserts swords into the box, but he fails the magic trick. The man in the box goes to hospital with his stomach injured. This film, full of black humor, shows the puzzle of a collapsed world. It becomes the process of displaying and observing the bitter reality, the inevitable situation, while we catch up Roy Andersson’s humorous touches. [LEE Sang-yong]
