The main character is a gold mineral and a data cluster (a file storage unit) called Petra. Petra, that is set to migrate beyond time and space, is screened at the border island Crypto Valley. The authorities consider Petra an alien or a virus that infiltrated their system. The title “Trickster” refers to a mythical being that disrupts order and ignores morals and customs in social cultural anthropology. Petra’s struggle to prove itself - neither in the state of existence nor nonexistence, overlaps with the global refugee problem. This is the sequel of director and artist KIM Ayoung’s 2017 work ''Porosity Valley, Portable Holes''. The philosophical worldview that resembles a science fiction is timely and visually overwhelming. This year, the film was invited to the Forum Expanded at the Berlin International Film Festival. [NA Wonjeong]
* ''Porosity Valley 2: Tricksters’ Plot'' was originally made as a 2-channel video for an art exhibition. But also it has been screened as a single channel, 16:9 version for film festivals, including JEONJU IFF. For this online screening, it presents exceptionally as an original 2-channel version.
