The Notes of Anna Azzori / A Mirror that Travels through Time

Review

Constanze RUHM attempts to bring back the characters of the forgotten film Anna (1975, Alberto GRIFI, Massimo SARCHIELLI) to the present day. Many women auditioned for the lead role of Anna and that process was made into an essay film. The director gives life to the forgotten character from the auditions that consist of interviews, performances, and photography. RUHM also restores the women’s dignity which were sometimes undervalued or excluded in film history. Thanks to the existence of these films, which convey radical form and content, we can refer to the past and talk about the present where the importance of women is restored, or women’s space exists.
