Serge Daney once said that one of the things movies teach us is that it is impossible to stand in someone else’s shoes. The world one person can experience is limited, and the lives beyond one’s experience exist, at times, separate from one’s judgment. THE FROGS shows the lives of young women whose boyfriends or husbands are in prison. They visit once a week to provide things that cannot be found in prison: food, drugs, sex, and even cellphones to contact people on the outside. Throughout the entire film, director Edgardo Castro records their troubled lives without prejudice or judgments. (Sung MOON)
