Born in 1949, Spain. With All About My Mother (1999), he won his first Oscar for Best Foreign Film and many other prizes all over the world. Three years later, Talk to Her (2002) won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and other prominent international prizes. In 2004, Bad Education opened the Cannes Film Festival. In 2006, he presented Volver in the Competition of the Cannes, where it got two awards. His other works Julieta (2016) and Pain and Glory (2018) were invited to the Competitive section in Cannes as well.
