Columbian filmmaker Camilo Restrepo gained great reputation as he was invited to distinguished film festivals for his 16mm short films. His long-awaited first feature film was also produced in 16mm. Los Conductos tells the story of Pinky, a young man who is always on the run. Working at an illegal sweatshop, Pinky runs around the city hoping to escape this hell-like tunnel of life. The city, which is in a political situation that is about to explode soon, is depicted very realistic and apocalyptic, causing tension to the story. The film intersects with the nation’s history and the magic of cinema and creates a metaphor for Colombia’s present, full of vitality despite political depression. (Sung MOON)
