The 23rd JEONJU International Film Festival on ZEPETO´s CGV World Map

- Global metaverse platform ‘ZEPETO’ meets the 23rd JEONJU IFF

- Screening of Winning Films in the 22nd JEONJU IFF Korean Competition for Shorts, for 7 days from May 6th to May 12th

The 23rd JEONJU International Film Festival (JEONJU IFF, Festival Director LEE Joondong), which opened on Thursday, April 28, announced that it would expand the scope of the festival to the metaverse. Accordingly, movie fans around the world will be able to see the 5 winning films of the 22nd JEONJU IFF Korean Competition for Shorts on ZEPETO’s CGV World Map for 7 days from Friday, May 6th to Thursday, May 12th.

The 23rd JEONJU IFF utilizes ZEPETO’s CGV World Map to screen the five winning films of last year’s Korean Competition for Shorts: Choi Minyoung’s Vacation Event, Park Jaehyun’s Without You, Noh Gyeongmu’s A Blue Giant, Song Yechan’s Maria&Beyonce, and Kim Changbum’s Training Session.

The CGV World Map, where JEONJU IFF will be held this year, is an official theater in the global metaverse platform ‘ZEPETO’ and was built as a global open map accessible to not only Korean but also international audiences. The JEONJU IFF award-winning films can be seen by audiences around the world.

It can be read that JEONJU IFF, which started by promoting the mottos of “digital, alternative and independent” to the Korean and overseas film industry unfamiliar with digital production, has now started an experimental challenge with ‘metaverse.’ The synergy between ‘ZEPETO’ virtual space, which aims for free self-expression and unconstrained connection, and JEONJU IFF is expected.

Audiences who want to watch can create their own 3D avatar in the ZEPETO app and then access the CGV World Map. At the cinema of ZEPETO’s CGV World Map, Vacation Event and Without You from Friday, May 6 to Monday, May 9, and A Blue Giant, Maria&Beyonce and Training Session from Tuesday, May 10 to Thursday, May 12 are shown 24 hours a day. Anyone can watch them for free, both in Korea and abroad.

The JEONJU IFF, which opened on Thursday, April 28, received a warm response from the audience by providing online live broadcast and replay service of the program events such as the opening ceremony, Master Class, and JEONJU Talk! Talk! on Naver NOW. From May 6, the screening of the ‘JEONJU International Film Festival in ZEPETO’ can also be viewed on Naver NOW.
