KANG Gilwoo and LEE Sang-hee to Host the Closing Ceremony of the 23rd JEONJU International Film Festival

closing declaration and performance, screening of the closing film Full Time

The 23rd JEONJU International Film Festival (JEONJU IFF, Festival Director LEE Joondong) selected actors Kang Gilwoo and Lee Sang-hee to host the Closing Ceremony.

The 23rd JEONJU IFF, which started on Thursday, April 28 and will be closed on Saturday, May 7, selected actors Kang Gilwoo and Lee Sang-hee as the Closing Ceremony hosts. Kang Gilwoo has been attending JEONJU IFF for five years since 2018, starting with To My River (2018), and appeared in The layover (2021) in the Korean Cinema section this year. Lee Sang-hee, who has been active in both movies and TV drama recently, is attracting attention from the public by appearing in the Netflix series All of Us Are Dead (2022) and Juvenile Justice (2022). In particular, they have a close relationship with Jeonju as the lead actors in A Distant Place (2021), a film of ‘JEONJU Cinema Project 2020.’Festival Director Lee Joondong said, “It is meaningful to have the actors who appeared in the JEONJU Cinema Project’s film host the Closing Ceremony.”

While the 23rd JEONJU IFF will roll out the red carpet at 18:30 (KST), the Closing Ceremony, hosted by Kang Gilwoo and Lee Sang-hee, will begin at the JEONJU Dome at 19:00 pm on Saturday, May 7th at the JEONJU Dome. It begins with the festival report by festival director Lee Joondong, followed by the presentations of the award-winning films and interviews with the winners in each category, the closing declaration by festival chairman Kim Seung-su, a closing performance and the introduction and screening of the Closing Film. The Closing Film is Full Time (2021), directed by Eric Gravel, which tells the story of a working woman, Julie, who suffers career break due to childbirth and raising children. It is expected to be the event that will conclude by celebrating the biggest film festival since the pandemic with the audience, citizens, and filmmakers.

The 23rd JEONJU International Film Festival will be held in the Jeonju Film Street area until Saturday, May 7, and will also be screened online through ONFIFN, an online platform dedicated to Korean film festivals.
