Born in 1977, Jammu, India. Prior to becoming a filmmaker, he wrote book reviews and articles for a regional newspaper and in 2000, joined the Film & Television Institute of India (FTII), from which he graduated in film direction in 2004. His short films have won several awards which include the FIPRESCI Award at the Oberhausen Film Festival, Gold Mikaldi at Bilbao, Golden Conch at the Mumbai International Film Festival. He has taught at the National Institute of Design (NID) in Ahmedabad, India. His first feature film, The Man's Woman and Other stories, was picked as Special Mention at Venice Film Festival 2009.
