Come with me to the cinema – THE GREGORS

Director_ Alice AGNESKIRCHNER

Germany 2022 155min DCP Color/B&W feature Documentary
Review

Godard said couples who don't share a love of the same films end up getting divorced. The Gregors, Erika and Ulrich, love to watch the same films so much that they decide to have their own cinema: Arsenal, the home base of the Forum section of the Berlin International Film Festival. Come with me to the cinema tells the love story of the Gregors as well as the history of cinema. In particular, it doesn’t only tell the story of German cinema but also covers the turbulent history of Germany. The titles of the films that represented the Forum section and the names of directors, such as Jutta Brückner, Doris Dörrie, and Wim Wenders, that appear in this documentary are enough to indicate the importance of the Gregors in film history.
