Director Lukas VALENTA RINNER, who won the Special Jury Prize at the JEONJU IFF 2015 for his debut film Parabellum, presents another apocalyptic vision in his new movie. A Decent Woman follows Belén, a housemaid who works in an exclusive gated community in Argentina. She discovers a nudist club and witnesses the absurdity and crisis of a middle-class family. Interestingly, most actors performed naked throughout the film, and real nudists joined the film, blurring the boundary between reality and film. The film serves as an allegory of Argentine society, contrasting the highly-secured, wealthy community with the nudist club and raising questions about the various faces of human society. The middle class's strictness and the nudists' freedom are two sides of the same coin. The director uses this tension to expose the fabrication and hypocrisy of collective ideology. (LEE Sangyong)
