The pawnbroker strictly picks out only gold and trades. If you hand something like a guitar, it will be rejected. No one speaks, but vivid sounds and brilliant mise-en-scenes fill the movie. In particular, the repetitive drum beat marks the peak and rhythm of the film. A kid who comes with a customer starts wailing and breaks the serenity. A commotion leads to confusion. The pawnshop owner gives out money for things that never get accepted. Who can stop this craziness? (JEONG Ji-hye)
