Every evening, 5th grader Haneul, whose mother runs a free after-school study room, studies with the middle-school-aged boys who live in a nearby orphanage. Haneul’s mother is always busy looking after the older boys, which only adds to Haneul’s frustration. One day, Haneul loses his glasses and starts suspecting the older boys. Instead of being supportive, Haneul’s mother reprimands him instead. This film shows how ‘growth’ is not something grand but built up of the small moments of daily life. The subtle directing takes care to portray the character’s emotional ups and downs dealing with everyday events and makes full use of the charms of short films. (KEEM Youngle)
