This film supports a simple argument: an object’s significance depends solely on its placement in the world. With this stated purpose, the film creates various meanings and contexts around a train running from Korea to Kazakhstan. With a strange sense of humour, the text regarding the object repeats and mixes up with other things and sometimes slips. This seems to be an inevitable format to naturally evoke the issues of Koryo-saram, whose mere existences even feel faint. Although the film could have easily become an objectification of Koryo-saram, the daring attempt to look at this issue in an entirely objective way brings about a sense of immersion into the story while maintaining an impressive format and directionality on the subject matter.
