· The 21st JEONJU International Film Festival’s Extended Screenings Begin July 21st!

· Extended screenings to start in Jeonju and Seoul at the JEONJU Cine Complex, CGV Myeongdong Cinelibrary, and CGV Apgujeong Arthouse in sequence

· 175 titles out of 180 official selection to screen including DAMP SEASON and other award winners

The JEONJU International Film Festival (JEONJU IFF, Festival Director LEE Joondong) will hold the 21st JEONJU IFF’s extended screening in Jeonju and Seoul from July 21st in sequence.

In an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the 21st JEONJU IFF decided to have separate jury screenings (May 28 to June 1), online screenings (May 28 to June 6), and extended screenings (July 21 to September 20). To allow the audience to watch this year’s selection properly theaters, the extended screenings will take place in both Jeonju and Seoul. The extended screenings in Jeonju will be held from July 21st to September 20th at the JEONJU Cine Complex while the extended screenings in Seoul will take place for three weeks starting August 6th at the CGV Myeongdong Cinelibrary and CGV Apgujeong Arthouse.

Firstly, the extended screenings at the JEONJU Cine Complex will start with works from the unique Quay Brothers, whom the festival spotlighted in various ways through the Special Focus program Quay Brothers: Masters of Puppet Animation and the Special Exhibition Quay Brothers: Welcome to the ≫Dormitorium≪. Through the Special Focus, the Quay Brothers’ representing works such as Street of Crocodiles and The Doll’s Breath among 25 titles will be screened, while the Special Exhibition will be open at the Hangaram Arts Center Museum’s Gallery 7 at the Seoul Arts Center until October 4th. Following JEONJU IFF’s extended screenings, another Special Focus program titled KBS Collection: Audience Engagement will screen 175 films out of the complete festival selection of 180 titles, including International Competition’s Grand Prize winner Damp Season, the Korean Competition Grand Prize winners Gull and Mom’s Song, the Korean Competition for Shorts’ Grand Prize winner The End of the Universe, as well as many other titles in competition sections, Masters, World Cinema, Korean Cinema, Cinema Fest, Midnight Cinema, and Expanded Cinema. During the extended screenings, several special programs including talks with filmmakers will be held. In addition, at the 1st floor exhibition hall of the JEONJU Cine Complex, 100 FILMS 100 POSTERS, a unique exhibition program of JEONJU IFF, and Expanded Plus will be introduced to the public starting in August.

´The 21st JEONJU International Film Festival’s Extended Screenings with CGV Arthouse´ will be held in Seoul for 3 weeks from August 6th. These screenings will focus on Korean titles from sections such as Korean Competition, Korean Competition for Shorts, Korean Cinema, and KBS Collection: Audience Engagement, but some International Competition titles and the NETPAC Award winner will be included in the list of approximately 40 titles. At the Seoul extended screenings, various events including talks with filmmakers and cast will also take place.
