The film is a road movie that tells the story of Farukh, who looks for his doctor father in order to rescue his younger brother from poverty. The film is made up of simple narratives, but the railroad trip of the brothers enable the viewers to feel the culture of regional Tajikistan. Ever since his student´s work at VGIK and in the films that follow Brother director tried to reflect the themes of Urban Lads (Generation Conflict) such as in Kosh ba kosh, Luna Papa, Chic... The another theme, which was successfully reflected in Brother, is called The travel across homeland´ (safar das vata in Tajik). It is ritual of a Sufi solik (vagabond), which is the traveling across his fatherland (or is occupied with self-analysis) to cognize the Truth, which is equal in sense with the notion of God... It is known that the Bakhtiyor did not even think of making a Sufi film from Brother. Yet some principles of self cognition of urban lads the people and country, were still reflected in the episodes of the railway trip. Film is quite simple in its language and structure. Yet, this natural simplicity means deepness and polyphony of young author s perception.
