Review

The film is built on descriptions of pieces of a grandfather’s memories of being 7 in 1932, a father’s memories of being 7 in 1952 and a son’s memories of being 7 in 1985 mixed with one another. It is a documentary that is poetic and experimental, a reenactment of memories and a record of reality at the same time.

Born in China and obtained his MFA in Canada. His first feature-length film I went to the zoo the other day was screened various film festivals including BAFICI and Images Festival. Rivers and my father is Li’s second feature-length film and he won the Jury Prize at the 7th China Independent Film Festival.
