Born in 1953, he studied film at NYU. He worked as an assistant of Lightning Over Water at Nicholas Ray´s suggestion. He won Golden Camera with Stranger Than Paradise(1984) and Grand Prix with Broken Flowers(2005) at Festival de Cannes. Further, his several films such as Dead Man(1995) and Only Lovers Left Alive(2013). Coffee and Cigarettes(2003) had been screened at Jeonju IFF.
