The 27th JEONJU International Film Festival (JEONJU IFF, Festival Co-Directors MIN Sungwook and JUNG Junho) announced its 10 films for the International Competition.
The International Competition showcases emerging filmmakers who have directed fewer than three feature films, with all selected works presented as Asian premieres. Among 421 submissions across 70 countries, 10 films were selected for this year’s lineup.
While the 27th edition’s overall trends showed that Europe led by continent, the United States ranked first as a single country with 44 submissions. Molly KIM, the newly joined programmer of the JEONJU IFF, noted, “This year’s American entries are particularly noteworthy for their genre and formal diversity, ranging from comedy, horror to experimental cinema.”

Expanding on his Sundance-acclaimed short of the same name, Walter THOMPSON-HERNÁNDEZ’s second feature, If I Go Will They Miss Me, combines magical realism with documentary-style reenactment to portray, in a lyrical and oneiric tone, the life of a young Black boy growing up in the hood.
The debut feature by Jack AUEN and Kevin WALKER, Chronovisor presents a surreal world where history, religion, and science intersect.

The Calf Doll, a hybrid work by Ankur HOODA, blends fiction and documentary to unfold a legend-like narrative rooted in the improvised performances and lived experiences of real villagers.
Dream of Another Summer (Irene BARTOLOMÉ) constructs a dreamlike and multilayered visual language by interweaving the worn urban landscapes of Beirut.
Fantasy, directed by Isabel PAGLIAI, adopts an experimental form to explore a fantastical entanglement of dreams and reality, sparked by a notebook discovered by chance.

Michiyuki - Voices of Time, by NAKAO Hiromichi, delicately traces the journey of a young man who, after moving into an old house, drifts through the memories embedded in the house, the village, and time itself.
The Night Is Fading Away, directed by Ezequiel SALINAS and Ramiro SONZINI, portrays with romantic black-and-white imagery the life of a man reassigned from projectionist to night guard, and his enduring love for cinema.
Jacqueline JANSEN’s Six Weeks On, a quiet yet poignant portrait unfolds, following six weeks of mourning after the death of a mother.

Stone and Feather, directed by Ragıp TÜRK, is a stark social drama that captures, with an unflinching gaze, a mother’s desperate journey to reclaim her child, who has been sent to an orphanage while she is imprisoned.
The Visitor (Vytautas KATKUS) offers a delicately rendered, watercolor-like portrayal of a man returning to his hometown, confronting unfamiliar emotions and a deep sense of nostalgia.
10 selected International Competition films will be screened at the 27th JEONJU International Film Festival, which will take place over 10 days from April 29 (Wed) to May 8 (Fri), 2026.
