JEONJU IFF released the official poster of the 22nd edition on February 15th, 2021. The poster featured J, the initial letter of JEONJU IFF at its center. The letter J in the poster was designed in a way that two shapes composing the letter J represent a pixel and a movie screen.
However, after the release, the organizing committee learned that there are some posters whose main motif and design features are highly similar to those of the JEONJU IFF 2021 poster. We had a lengthy discussion and made a final decision to change the official poster. Although the poster design may not be a case of imitation or plagiarism, JEONJU IFF strongly believes that it is necessary to use a completely new poster. We hope that our decision to rework the poster is one way to pursue our important vision, creativity.
It is much to be regretted that our review of the posters was not thorough enough to rule out the one that is similar to existing posters. We hope that the new poster well reflects the JEONJU IFF identity. Taking this as a lesson, we promise to develop creative and original posters for upcoming editions of JEONJU IFF.
