The last film directed by Cecilia Mangini, who died at the age of 93. In 1965, Mangini visited Vietnam to make a film with her husband Lino Del Fra. Two Forgotten Boxes not only signifies the completion of the film that was never finished by Mangini but also provides a chance to revisit her life and see how the world has changed since through the process of completing the film. Here’s one sentence from an interview where Mangini mentioned the topic of this film. “It´s the photographs that remind me of things because I´m losing my memory. I didn´t remember these two boxes. And then I took them, I opened them, I started looking at the auditions and there were things I couldn´t remember anymore and instead, they came back to me because ... photography recovers time, recovers space, recovers sensations, recover everything.” (Sung MOON)
