After graduating from college, Yezi spends the summer with her grandmother, who has been living alone since her husband passed away. Yezi suspects that her grandmother may have dementia, while her grandmother thinks Yezi may be suffering from sleepwalking. The everyday space shared by the two of them gradually turns into a surreal place in which grandmother’s memories and dreams and Yezi's fantasies are mingled. The film follows Yezi and densely conveys themes such as aspects of his family history, memories with his grandmother and grandfather, the afterlife, myths, and reincarnation. The non-linear narrative makes it possible for the audience to be emotionally moved by the chaos Yezi experiences, and the everyday expression of space nullifies the sense of time that borders the past and the present. This is a sensuous film that is loosely based on Tracy Chevalier's novel The Virgin Blue (1997). [PARK Jin-hee]
