Based on the original screenplay by Italian master Ettore Scola, who passed away in 2016, the film is directed by and stars Sergio Castellitto. Vincenzo, the owner of a bookstore in Paris, lives with his daughter Albertine in silence, who relies on a wheelchair after an accident. Vincenzo's usual daily routine undergoes changes one day when his charming neighbor Yolande appears. A theater actor with little interest in literature, she enters Vincenzo's bookstore in search of her lost dog and acts without hesitation, and a subtle atmosphere is formed between the two. The meeting brings unexpected changes in their lives. Including the red curtains at its opening and ending scenes, the film feels like we are watching a play. The beautiful piano melody of Venezuelan film musician Arturo Annecchino and the feast of insert songs that fit the mood of the film are also attractive points. In particular, Nina Simone's “Stars” flowing in the final scene leaves a long-lasting impression. [CHUN Jinsu]
