Monument Valley is a region of huge rocky mountains towering over the desert on the border of Arizona and Utah, USA, and it is said that the name of the rocky mountains resembles a monument. The Taking is an exploration of this Monument Valley and American history, as well as several films that have taken its topography as the main setting, especially John Ford and his westerns. Director Alexandre O. Philippe has made original documentary films about American films, including The People vs. George Lucas (2010), 78/52 (2017), and Memory: The Origins of Alien (2019).
