Kim's Video is a video rental store and a sacred place for New York-based film enthusiasts in the 1990s and 2000s. In particular, this store in St. Mark's Place in the East Village had more than 55,000 rare art films and underground film videos and DVDs, which cannot be found anywhere else, and 250,000 loyal customers. What touched even more was that the founder was Kim Yongman, a Korean immigrant. However, Kim's Video had to close down due to the growth of online rental companies like Netflix, searching for organizations that might accept the whole collection of rare films. Surprisingly, after rejecting offers from several universities, he accepted an offer from Salemi, an off-the-beaten-track small town in Italy. This documentary Kim's Video visits Salemi ten years later and shows the collection as it is. Moreover, the directors show the true ethics of cinephiles by devising a way to take the collection back and put it into action. This is a must-see film for those who regard themselves as cinephiles.
