Italian film history is full of great names. However, one of them had an exceptionally significant impact on international cinema: Sergio Leone, referred to as 'the Italian Who Invented America,' in the title of this documentary film. Of course, he did not invent America, but he did originate and develop a movie genre called Spaghetti Western. His films set in the fictional West were primarily shot in Spain and later became part of film history by creating a lasting legend. Clint Eastwood, one of the main people in this documentary, says he owes his acting career to Leone. Eastwood is not the only star who admits to being inspired by Italian cinema. Quentin Tarantino, Dario Argento, Frank Miller, Tsui Hark, and Martin Scorsese came together to pay homage to this great filmmaker. Of course, Leone's partner, Ennio Morricone, cannot be missed here; the film is full of scenes showing their collaboration and Morricone's memories of Leone. (Sung MOON)
