The JEONJU IFF is proud to showcase a selection of short films by director Lee Jangwook, who has dedicated himself to the handcrafted beauty of filmmaking in Korea. Lee's work captures specific moments and details from ordinary spaces, such as everyday urban landscapes, and transforms them into his unique images through reprocessing techniques, like surface manipulation and image superimposition. Rather than delivering straightforward messages, Lee constructs a world where images achieve powerful presence, seeming to awaken emotions and generate sounds, through repetition that fosters awareness and pacing that captures fleeting moments impossible to grasp with the eye. This is not merely a demonstration of the clashing of film's physical and optical properties but also a manifestation of the artist's worldview. Along with the screenings of his 16 mm films, including his latest work CHANG GYEONG, the festival will feature Lee's live film performance to the music of Lee Minhwi. (Sung MOON)
