Through his filmography, Eugène GREEN has created a world where reality and fantasy intersect concisely, just like magic. As if the two worlds can coexist at one time, his films show that ancient tales can happen in the present. He has created his unique world by blending rigorous mise-en-scènes and bizarre plots. The Wall of the Dead is a piece of his strange and extraordinary world. In this place, the dead live with the living and return to the present to pay off their old debt and save the peace of the present time. GREEN tells a story of a soldier who died in the war of 1914 and returns to the life of a young Parisian, combining fantasy and reality. The heart of this story is probably best summarized by the quote of St. Augustine: "Perhaps it might be said rightly that there are three times: a time present of things past; a time present of things present; and a time present of things future."
