Structured like a word chain game, the film foretells today in which common sense and nonsense and front and back are reversed. Parents are reporting a child missing with the child by their side, and the police are taking the report. People sit on a toilet seat around the dining table and defecate together, then eat alone in the restroom afterward. For some reason, the absurdities are not unfamiliar. Perhaps nonsense and irrationality are the basic premises of life that apply to all of us. BUÑUEL illustrates the meaninglessness of linear narrative structure and causality through logical but outlandish connections and ridiculous situations. It emphasizes that these forms of distortion are not behind the scenes, but all are happening in our eyes. In his depiction and mockery of the nature of life, one can paradoxically sense the warmth of Buñuel’s view of the human world through his cynical satire. (Kelvin Kyung Kun PARK)
