After her mother passes away, a 12-year-old girl Georgie lives alone in a suburban London apartment. She creates her own world, stealing bicycles with her friends Ali to earn pocket money and lying to her social worker about living with her uncle. Georgie’s perfect life as a wild and carefree girl is turned upside down one day when Jason, a bit of a wastrel in the neighborhood comes. Jason is Georgie’s biological father, who left before Georgie was born when he met Georgie’s mother as an immature teenager. And when he learned that Georgie’s mother is dead, he comes to Georgie as a father. But Georgie’s mind doesn’t open so easily and their uncomfortable cohabitation begins. Director Charlotte REGAN, a former music video director captures the father-daughter relationship with sensual cinematography, and child actress Lola Campbell’s performance as Georgie makes us eager to see what comes next. The film won the Grand Jury Prize for World Cinema Dramatic Competition at the Sundance Film Festival in January this year. (CHUN Jinsu)
