Janaína NAGATA, the director of Private Footage, buys a reel to check an old 16mm projector and it comes with a small roll of film as a gift. The reel contains 19 minutes of a home movie of a family on vacation filmed in South Africa during the 60s. From this discovery, and without leaving her computer desktop, the director makes, with the help of the internet and all her tools, an investigation that will find the true background of these idyllic images. Taking the form of a very particular investigative thriller, the harmless reel of film, and its amateur images, will end up revealing stories of violence and racism during the Apartheid. (Sung MOON)
