Desvío de noche (Night Detour) is filled with mysteries. In particular, it makes it uncertain whether what we see is reality or an elaborate cinematic construct to make us believe what we see really happens. The plot unfolds in the background of a town in Mexico surrounded by jungle and the sea, two natural environments that are simultaneously significant and ominous. It’s in this place where Violetta Martínez, a young figure skating star, suddenly disappeared. A journalist chases her trail but, as the title suggests, only finds detours. Detours that will transform the film into another. The reconstruction of memories and how memory works is an important part of this hunting story.
