According to the Standard Korean Language Dictionary, an afterimage is the phenomenon in which the image of a candle remains even after one closes one’s eyes from staring at it for a long time. Just as one recalls the previous sentence even as the page turns to the next, or as a spider is aware of the previous strand as it spins the next, Afterimage attends to the resonance that emerges between images. The screen shifts from earth to sky, from sky to waves, from waves to clouds, and finally into story after everything has been covered over, yet sensation continues without rupture. (JEONG Yeoreum)
