Born in 1972, South Carolina. He studied mathematics in college and became a flight simulation software developer before making his first film. His first feature Primer(2004) won Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival and his second film, Upstream Color also won Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival.
